Agua dulceThe Agua Dulce club show, situated in the picturesque Yucca Mountains has always been a great show to visit and exhibit at. This is a show organized very well by the OG Agua Dulce members, who are like a tight knit family. The location, food and people are excellent, not to mention the beer!
Apart from the great quality of dogs being exhibited, which show cases the quality of American bred dogs; exhibiting the strength of American Breeding; the quality of handling and the excellent training of the dogs is also worthy of a stalwartly mention.

Joachim stieglerThe show was judged by Herr Joachim Stiegler, SV Judge and Koermeister. Herr Stiegler has judged in many countries across the world and is a very well known and respected authority on German Shepherds. He was also the judge of the 12-18m females class at the German Sieger Show in 2007.
His kennel name “vom Stiegler Hof” needs no introduction; which has produced some of the best representatives of the breed, ever. I have also had the fortune of possessing a GSD male bearing his kennel name many years ago. I have also owned the Indian Young Siegerin Simone Polarkreis, a daughter of a top male bred by him; VA Hannibal Stiegler Hof. Having had the privilege of spending an evening in his great company, Herr Stiegler never failed to impress the gathering with either his gentlemanly demeanor or his immense knowledge of our beloved breed: the German Shepherd Dog

On the day of the show, the next morning, it was exceptionally windy, enough to knock the food stalls et al! The officials had a very tough time keeping the paperwork and even the trophies in one spot; the dogs, their handlers and the onlookers had great trouble keeping their eyes open as the sand and the wind would hit with blinding force!

Soon after the registration, and a couple of classes into the show, the wind subsided a little and the show came along with full swing.

The classes began with the 4-6 month females.

The class was won by an excellent grand daughter of VA1 Zamp vom Thermodos, through one of his best sons SG5 BSZS Sirio della Real Favorita. This female was exceptionally father typical. It should be noted that Sirio originates from a very well known mother line from the Zwinger Holtkaemper See and his mother is full sister to Raica vom Holtkaemper See (Wallace Agrigento x Wari Hotlkamper See), who is the mother to V3 BSZS Negus Holtkamper See and VA2 USA Naxos Holtkamper See.
Jada’s motherline originates from Jeniffer vom Wuestenbergerland, littermate to the excellent VA Jazmin Wustenbergerland. This bloodline originates from VA1 Pakros D’Ulmental and VA Jenny Laacher Haus (Eros Luisenstrasse). The puppy moved with great dynamism and showed very good alertness throughout the class with excellent front reach, matched with a strong hind thrust. The VP2 puppy female was out of Negus vom Holtkaemper See; Juniper vom Valkyre and VP3 was her littermate Jana. These females had great resemblance to each other and had very good type, color and movement. However, they needed to firm up a lot as of now. This is still a very young stage of development and the dogs have a lot of time to develop. Barring anything from going wrong, these females had a great future in the coming years. This was a very good class with all American bred dogs of very high quality and uniformity; with many more to come in the advanced classes.

The 4-6 months males class was won by a VA Dux de Cuatro Flores son, Enzo vom Haus Rifkyn. This was a very nice puppy, again, of very good type and color with great enthusiasm to move. He finished VP1.The second puppy only made a promising grade.Bram vom Haus Mansfield (Flint Mittelwest x Gipsi Sawtooth)

The 6-9 months female class featured some very high quality females. VP1 was awarded to  Karmella vom Wuestenbergerland, a daughter of Jazz Wuestenbergerland. Jazz is the litter brother to VA Jazmin and has produced some very high quality puppies from different mother lines, clearly asserting his dominance in the gene pool. Karmella’s mother is Musica vom Wuestenbergerland, a grand daughter to 2x VA1 Larus von Batu through his SG13 son Ritchie Westervenn. Musica traces her mother line back to Daggi vom Stiegler Hof (VA Esko Danischen hof X VA Jenny Laacher- Haus).
VP2 was Hallie Wuestenbergerland, a grand daughter to VA Urban Glisenaur Schloss, one of the very best sons of VA BSZS Ghandi Arlett. This female has the typical Ghandi stamp evident in her face and expression, down to the fourth generation! She has great balance and poise and moves with excellent deportment. Her sire is Nickolaus vom Wuestenberger land, who traces his mother line back to Orsina vom Laacher Haus; daughter if VA1 Bax Luisenstrasse x VA Jenny Laacher Haus and she is also the full sister to SG1 BSZS Oliver Laacher- Haus. The mother of Hallie is Daggie Stiegler Hof (VA3 Esko Danischen hof x Jenny Laacher Haus).VP3 was the sister to the VP1 female, Karma vom Wuestenbergerland, a female of very good anatomy, expression, and very good presentation. She was not in the best of coat condition at the day of the show and has lost a few positions. She made the 4-6 m VP1 in the San Diego show a few months ago under Herr Klaus Goethe.

The 6-9 month males class had some interesting dogs as well. It was a very closely contested class and the first three dogs were of exceptionally good quality as compared to the others in the class who were of high quality as well. Another interesting aspect of this class was that all the top males from the class was American Bred; another shot in the arm of the local breeding awareness. The class winner and VP1 was Darus von del Valle. This strong dog was of over medium size. He had a very good head and expression. Of certain note was his runability and his willingness to move; a very enthusiastic dog with a very nice deportment all throughout, very dry and firm with good color and general anatomy- a well deserved position. He comes over VA Mack Aducht from the father side which makes him from an alternate bloodline as well.
VP2 was Grecko vom Wuestenberger Land, a large powerful dog with very good anatomy and excellent temperament. The dog has a very powerful head and high withers which seamlessly culminate to a nicely laid long croup through a strong back. He has good forehand and very good hind quarter angulation. Unfortunately, he was completely out of coat and hence had to settle for the second position. He comes from a long line of well established producers from both sides of the pedigree and hence we can be quite certain about his ability to produce in the future. His sire is Pacco jahnhohe, a son of Wallace Agrigento and littermate to the VA3 Perle jahnhohe. Pacco’s motehrline traces back to Pascha Jahnhohe- Idol jahnhohe- VA1 Ulk Arlett; known for its outstanding character and flawless anatomy. From his mother line, he comes pver VA karat’s Yoker, one of the best VA1 Ursus  von Batu sons.
VP3 was Dillon vom Lundborg-land, a son of VA Urban Glisenaur Schloss, tracing his linage back to VA1 Ursus Batu through VA Ghandi Arlett. This was a very strong dog of good size with a powerful head and great coat. He also has good movement with powerful hind thrust. He however, had some problems with his ears as he was such a strong puppy; which should normally come along just fine with maturity. This pup, at a later stage, could give the class winner a run for his money at a different show.

The 9-12 months females was yet another strong class with females of great quality. All the females came from exceptional gene pools and all the top placing dogs were American Bred; yet another class, yet another feather in the already full cap of the dedicated American GSD Breeders! The class winner was Brandee vom Miles Haus, a very dry and firm female of very good type, color and good proportions. She was a large female with a distinct feminine expression. Sired by Nick Satyr, a very father typical female who moved very well and was handled to her advantage to the first place.VP2 female was Lolli vom Mittelwest, a female i have always liked. She made a podium placement in the North American Sieger Show and yet again at San Diego regional show. This female is of correct size and good expression. She is dry and firm and moves with a very dynamic and fluent gait with good presentation. She was however, recovering from an illness and was absolutely out of coat. The handler didn’t share a very good chemistry with her but that didn’t affect her position in any manner.
VP3 was Venus vom Blossom Land; a female with excellent type, temperament and structure. Venus was the youngest female in the class. She is a daughter of Jazz Wuestenbergerland and is certainly very father typical. She moved with excellent deportment and very good presentation. This female is a treat to watch in the ring and she seems to have a lot of fun in the activity with her flashy gait and the smiling expression, so typical of a good GSD female head. The judge however felt that she needed more time to mature and also train in the backhand to develop more dynamism in the slow walk to make her affable construction work to her advantage in the show ring. Being the youngest female in class, she certainly has a long way to go and in my opinion, she can beat the first and the second dogs at a different day

The 12 to 18 months (Youth class females) was dominated by an immaculate and extremely father typical Idol Holtkaemper Hof daughter Xambia Wuestenbergerland. Xambia is a powerful female of correct size and excellent proportions. Xambia is a female of exceptional anatomy Super Rich pigment and excellent color. She is line bred to Lord Georg Vicktor Turm and hence increases the expectance of very good progeny. This is a very celebrated bloodline and has always produced dogs of top notch anatomy, color, movement, substance and hallmark temperament. She dominated the ring from the moment she entered and made out with her second Regional Siegerin Title in the United States.

The 12 to 18 months males
Youth Sieger was Jaeger vom Munsinger Dunn. He is a large powerful male with a strong head and very good expression. He is possibly one of the best sons of Xab Aus Agrigento and comes over VA1 Zamp Thermodos from his father side. He also has an exceptional temperament. Jaeger has always been a winner in his class and was also the Puppy Sieger in the North American Sieger Show at St. Louis. SG2 was Sato vom Holtkaemper hof. He is a male of over medium size and medium strength. Coming over Zamp Thermodos from Negus Holtkamper See, Sato is a dog with good head and expression and very nice black pigment and good red color. He has a very dynamic movement and tends to lose his deportment in the fast round.

The winner of the 18 to 24 months class females was another very nice Idol Holtkamper hof daughter Urma Mittlewest. This female was SG1 in the San Diego show as well in the youth class. Another female of my liking, Urma is a very big and powerful female who has a very good anatomy. She has very good front and hind angulations with a powerful expressive head. She has bettered with age and has finally begun to look settled in the front. She has a normal wither, a strong back and a well angled croup. She has a very good hind thrust but she must move with better deportment. The handler and the female didn’t fit in the picture together. In my opinion, Urma is an excellent female who has come a very long way with her development is definitely a female one would hear from in the future

The winner of the Young males class (18-24m) Young Sieger was RJ Tazz vom Blossom land, a great grandson to Yasko vom Farbenspiel. This dog has already completed his Schutzhund titles at this young age with very good scores and has great bitework. He has a great type and color. However, for me, he must be stronger.

VA Jazmin vom Wuestenbergerland. This is a female of excellent anatomy, movement and temperament, She has an excellent expression, and she originates from a well above average litter coming from VA1 Pakros D’Ulmental. Jazmin was also SG 19 in the BSZS 2006. Jazmin is a very well rounded female; she has a very even disposition, an immense ring presence and good bite-work. She has enough of everything and has no exaggerations.. an excellent expression, a movement with very good deportment which is generated through her powerful hind quarters and transmitted to the front for that extensive front reach. For me, she is a very complete female. V2 was the very nice Gonzalez von Tronje daughter Taormina von Fidelius. Personally, I am not a very big fan of the Orbit Tronje bloodline but this female impressed me quite a bit. She has a high wither with a very well formed topline to a well laid croup. She has good fore and very good hind angulation and she moves with exceptional deportment with very good presentation; a well deserved position. V3 was Anyanka vom Zwillingshaus. A female of good type and color with a powerful head. She has good fore and hind angulations and a very nice temperament. She has very good drives and workability and did a fantastic offleash round.

V1 Sieger of the working males class was VA Quartz vom Wuestenbergerland, possibly one of the best sons of Xaro D’Ulmental. Coming over VA1 Ursus from Whisky and Xaro, Quartz is a large and powerful male of epic strength. He has an excellent head and very good proportions. He has good fore and very good hind angulations. This dog has made his Schutzhund titles in the youngest possible age and has been inducted into the VA group at the earlierst possible age. He comes over VA1 bax Luisenstrasse through Orsina Laacher Haus on the mother side. Quartz was handled very much to his  advantage and he moved very well with great presentation and won the class quite easily. This got even better in the fast round as the crowd cheered for him as he secured his position. V2 was Ingodd’s Albert, a very large strong male of very deep red color and strong head, He could have more black parts though. His brother made VA7 in Germany in 2007. I saw Albert for the first time in Kentucky and then at the sieger show in St. Louis and he has certainly come a very long way from then as far as condition is concerned. He moved quite well, although he was seldom in rhythm, but he moved impressively in the fast round and ascertained his position. V3 was Ursus Almhof, a VA1 Ursus Batu son. This 6 year old dog was very aggressive and quite out of shape. He had good anatomy and a very Ursus typical strong head. V4 was Magic vom Wuestenbergerland, In my opinion, Magic was the best mover in the class and should have done much better. He is a Big, slightly stretched strong male with very good angles in the front and back and very good brisket proportions. Magic is a Larus batu and Esko Danischenhof grand son of the highest quality who has produced some top females and is a good breeding partner with a wide gene pool.

The show finally came to an end in the evening and everybody left happy with their excellent trophies. I saw this show as an exhibitor, handler and an onlooker and it was all in all, a wonderful experience doing what all doggy folk like to do, have a ball at the show all day, meet friends, make new ones and enjoy the excellent dogs!! I would like to thank Ms. Ronnie Fituchhi for filling in and taking some beautiful pictures for us. Thanks Ronnie!
